Why should I machine with high pressure coolant?

High pressure coolant (HPC) refers to pumping machine tool coolant at pressure exceeding 300 PSI. In general machining, this usually means 1,000 PSI. In some applications ultra high pressure coolant, or 3,000 PSI, is used.

Penetrates the vapor barrier; the layer of steam formed on the cutting tool and the work piece when machining.

Cools the hot zone around workpiece preventing deformed parts, cracked tooling and "heat treatment" of the metal itself.

Immediately flushes chips away from cutting zone, keeping them from being machined again and affecting the workpiece finish.

Machines produce better parts, allows operators to increase their speeds and feeds, and extends the life of the cutting tool, often by five times or more.

Any shop which takes pride in machining precision parts should consider using a high pressure coolant system.
